Vernard Solomon

Vernard Grimes Solomon was involved in a one-car accident on September 11, 2018 and died in Shreveport, Louisiana on September 14, 2018.

 

Vernard was the second-eldest of three children and  was born November 28, 1943 to Harold and Joanna Grimes Solomon.  He attended public schools in Marshall and was a 1962 graduate of Marshall High School, getting his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his law degree in 1969 from South Texas school of law.

 

When Solomon was elected Harrison County District Attorney in 1970, he was the youngest person ever elected District Attorney in the State of Texas.  After his term as District Attorney ended, Solomon entered into the private practice of law, continuing to practice law in Marshall until his demise.

 

Solomon married Diane Ward Solomon, with whom he sired two children: Shannon Solomon and Coke Solomon.  

 

Visitation will be at Meadowbrook Funeral Home (housed in what was formerly the South Washington Church of Christ building) in Marshall from 6 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday.  The funeral services will be conducted at Meadowbrook Funeral home at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19.
