James "Gaylon" Sarrett passed away in Jefferson, Texas on July 10, 2023, at the age of 79. Born on October 28, 1943, he was the son of Mary "Jennie" Greer Sarrett & Millard Sarrett. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only son, James Brandon Sarrett. 

Gaylon was a 1962 graduate of Marshall High School and went on to a career in banking & finance. During his life he devoted much time and attention to serving the community through the Lions Club and various civic organizations. Gaylon was a people person and loved engaging in conversations with those around him. He was a collector of many things from stamps to clocks and guns. An avid reader, Gaylon also had quite a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and sharing his produce with friends and neighbors. 

Gaylon is survived by his only daughter, Angie Sarrett Alton (Larry), granddaughter, Jordan Elaine Allgood (Jared), grandsons, Peyton Sarrett & Braden Sarrett, and two great grandchildren, James Allgood & Jessa Allgood as well as one brother, Bob Sarrett (Shirley) and one niece, Teri Sarrett Maxwell (Tracy). 

The family wishes to express their special thanks to the staff of Magnolia Place, The Terry Center, & Marshall Hospice for their compassionate care.  

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 @ 2:00pm at Pope City Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Jefferson, Texas.
