Betty Ann Kelly

 

 

Betty “Ann” Kelly, 75, of Katy, Texas passed away May 1, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born to the late Freddie Jones and Thedias Newman Jones on March 29, 1944. Ann graduated from the University of Texas with a BS in Elementary Education, where she was a Chi Omega. She later went on to receive her Masters of Education. 

Ann served as the first PTA President for Nottingham Country Elementary and was awarded the first PTA Life Membership Award. She was a long time elementary school teacher with Katy Independent School District. She taught many years as a first-grade teacher and later as the Gifted and Talented teacher at Nottingham Country Elementary School. She made a lasting impression on all of her students and stayed in touch with many of them throughout her life. Education was very important to her. Ann always believed that a good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.

Ann taught Sunday School and led MYF for many years. She and Paul were charter members of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church. Her faith was abundant and her love of God was revealed in her daily life.

Ann was a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring Mammy to her grandchildren. Ann loved unconditionally.

Ann is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Paul L. Kelly; her two children, Kristin Kelly Clark and her husband Bill Clark, and son, Paul Frederick Kelly and his wife Amy Kelly; along with her five grandchildren, Maddison Ann Clark, Alexis Kristine Clark, William Arthur Clark III, Paul Corder Kelly, and Elizabeth Ann-Marie Kelly. Ann was preceded in death by her granddaughter Kendall Kelly Clark.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 20775 Kingsland Boulevard, Katy, Texas 77450, with Kim Poer officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Donate Life Texas in memory of Ann Kelly.
