
Services for Peggy Nadine Jones Hopkins, 78, of Flint, will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Frankston First Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Wiley officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at Hallsville Cemetery in Hallsville, Texas under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hopkins passed away in her home with her husband Don and loved ones by her side Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in Flint. She was born March 23, 1944 in Carthage, Texas to Theron Buddy Jones and Lillie Nadine Lemmond Jones.
Peggy was an active member of First Baptist Church Frankston. She was president of Rose Capital North Little League and President of Orr Elementary PTA. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1962. She held the position of rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 29 years in Tyler, Texas. During her time at the postal service, she helped coordinate many food and clothing drives. She and Don volunteered at the East Texas Food Bank for many years. Peggy had volunteered for many more organizations.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Theron and Nadine Jones; son, Donald Lester Hopkins Jr.; sisters, Elizabeth St. Romain and Penny Strickland; sisters-in-law, Lily Bell Woodley, Connie Dubois, and Nita Simon; and brother-in-law, Bain Gilcrease. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Lester Hopkins Sr., Flint, TX; son, Damon Lemmond Hopkins and wife Annie, Flint, TX; daughter-in-law, Monica Hopkins, McKinney, TX; grandchildren, Megan Hopkins, Alex Hopkins, Justin Hopkins, Kaitlyn Austin (husband Gavin), Toshya Burdette (husband Rodney), and Yale Linhoff (wife Julia); sisters, Sue Cooper (husband J.C.), Van Alstyne, TX; Therolyn Iblings (husband Paul), Benton, La; brothers-in-law, Roy St. Romain, Harleton, TX; Ed Strickland, Grand Prairie, TX; brothers-in-law, Elray Dubois and Joseph Simon; and sister-in-law, Betty Gilcrease. Peggy had 4 great grandchildren and one on the way.
Pallbearers will be her nephews: Steve Woodley, Wayne Woodley, Greg Pogue, Jay Cooper, Joe Simon, Jim Simon, Thomas Hall Jr., T.J. St. Romain and Matt Cooper.
Visitation is scheduled from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
