Billie Koetsier Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Billie Francis Flowers Koetsier.
Leaving behind cherished memories and indelible marks on the hearts of those who knew her,
Billie peacefully departed from this world on March 16, 2024.
Born January 26, 1944, to Bilbo Flowers and Mildred Blaylock Flowers, she graduated from
Marshall High School in 1962 and Texas Eastern School of Nursing in Tyler in 1964. She
worked as a surgical nurse for Dr. Pierce Foster in Alexandria, Louisiana for over 30 years. Billie
was known for her unwavering kindness and compassionate spirit. She touched the lives of
many with her warm smile and gentle demeanor, spreading love and joy wherever she went.
In addition to being a devoted friend and neighbor, Billie was a dedicated member of her community,
always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. She was an active member of
Parkview Baptist Church in Alexandria, Louisiana where she served as treasurer of her Sunday
school class. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her legacy of compassion will continue to inspire
generations to come.
Billie's memory will be forever cherished by her loving family, including Steven Koetsier her
husband of 58 years of Alexandria, Louisiana; daughter Kathy Koetsier Bottoms and son-in-law
Ronnie, grandson Steven Moore of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; sister Marie Flowers Noland and
brother-in-law Jim, niece Jamie Noland Smith and husband Michael, and great nephews Grayson,
Collin and Parker Smith all of Marshall, Texas. She is also survived by sister-in-law Barbara
Koetsier, brother-in-law Kenneth Koetsier, nephew Korey Koetsier, niece Cindy Tintle and
husband Don, great nephews Max and Chester Tintle and special friends Bro. David and Bobby
Shaw, as well as numerous family and friends. Billie was preceded in death by her parents
Bilbo and Mildred Flowers and brother-in-law David Koetsier.
Although Billie may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all
who had the privilege of knowing her. She was always the caregiver even after her retirement.
Billie was always there to help after every surgery or illness. May she rest in peace, surrounded
by the eternal love and light that she brought into the world.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Billie's life will be held at Port Caddo Baptist Church
in Marshall, Texas on Thursday March 21, 2024, at 11:00am with Bro. David Shaw officiating
under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held and hour prior
to the service from 10-11am. Interment will follow at the Algoma North Cemetery, where she
will be laid to rest alongside her loved ones. Pallbearers include Ronnie Bottoms, Steven
Moore, Michael Smith, Grayson Smith, Collin Smith and Parker Smith.
