Graveside services for Dr. Francis Patrick 
(Frank) Hadlock, 62, of Houston will be 4 
p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, at Colonial 
Gardens Cemetery, with Dr. Martin Clark 
officiating. Local arrangements are by 
Sullivan-Heaster Funeral Home. 

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Sullivan-Heaster Funeral Home. 

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at St. Luke's United
Methodist Church, Houston, with Dr. James W. Moore officiating. 

Dr. Hadlock died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, after a long fight with cancer. He was
born Oct. 30, 1943, in Marshall, the son of Clotyne Bryant Gray and Francis 
Patrick Hadlock Jr. 

Dr. Hadlock spent much of his youth in organized sports, focusing on golf 
after a knee injury. He won the District 4-A championship in his sophomore 
year. 

In 1962, he graduated from Marshall High School with honors. He was also an 
honors graduate of University of Texas, where he was a member of Phi Beta 
Kappa and Phi Eta Sigma. While at UT, he served as president of Phi Delta 
Theta, was foreman of the Texas Cowboys and a member of the Friars Society. 

He received the Mike Flynn Award and Dean Jack Holland Award for outstanding 
leadership and scholarship. 

In 1966, he entered Baylor College of Medicine on a Fisk Foundation 
scholarship and, after graduating in 1970, began and internship at Methodist 
Hospital. 

The following year, he joined American Doctors Abroad as a volunteer 
physician assigned to Kendu Bay Mission Hospital in Kenya.

He returned to the United States in 1973 and began a residency in radiology 
at Baylor College of Medicine, serving as chief resident his final year. 

He later became head of the radiology department at Jefferson Davis Hospital,
where he taught residents and did clinical research. 

There he was introduced to the new ultrasonic imaging technology and spent 
the next 20 years developing its clinical applications for obstetric imaging. 
Most of his tables, charts and equations are still today's standards in 
obstetric sonography. 

On July 26, 1974, he married Lana Lowry. 

Dr. Hadlock was a long-time member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He was a member of River 
Oaks Country Club, the Rio San Diego Club, the Cardwell Ranch Hunting Club, Tejas Breakfast Club, Texas 
Medical Association, Texas  Radiological Society, and the Radiological Society of North America.

He was a fellow of the American College of Radiology, the Society of Radiologists and Ultrasound, and
the American Institute of Ultrasound and Medicine.

Survivors include his wife, Lana Lowry Hadlock, two sons, Francis Patrick Hadlock of Dallas and Christopher Campbell Hadlock of Houston; his father, Pendleton Gaines Baldwin; two sisters, Patricia Anne Hadlock Ramsey of Lexington, Kentucky and Elizabeth Gray Baldwin Luhn of Houston, and a brother, Pendleton Gaines Baldwin Jr. of Mariertta, Ga.
